It’s crazy how close I live to the Pacific Ocean whilst hardly ever spending any time there. Most of San Francisco doesn’t feel remotely coastal so it’s really easy to go about your day-to-day life, forgetting the vast expanse of water almost surrounding the city. Sadly, part of the problem is that the beach is almost never sunny and is always several degrees colder than the rest of the city, with a strong, cold wind on top of that. However, once you forget any ideas of sunbathing, it’s still a beautiful place to spend time and I forgot how much I miss the salt air and sound of the waves, until I went back there the other day.
Ocean Beach is a Snowy Plover protection area and there are always flocks of birds in the air and running around or resting on the sand. This trip was no exception and I managed to snap a few photos of the birds in flight.
