Since deciding tacos are the ultimate path to healthy, well balanced dinners I’ve been on a quest to find a few different recipes so we can have tacos multiple times a week without getting bored. These tuna tacos are so very different from the beef ones I made the other day, there’s not much risk of that!
The whole meal is very quick and easy to prepare as well, not like some taco recipes where each component takes the prep time of a whole meal! For the tuna, just buy a good quality tuna steak, sprinkle with a little sea salt and then press toasted sesame seeds into both sides. Lightly fry in a little olive oil, using a medium to high heat until cooked to your taste.
I served mine with sliced avocado and cucumber (and some sliced red cabbage but that didn’t really enhance or detract from the dish) but the part that really makes it is the cilantro lime yoghurt. Just a few tablespoons of plain yoghurt mixed with the juice from half a lime and a handful of chopped cilantro. I also added a teaspoon of ancho chile powder for some additional flavor. If you like spicy food you could totally add a couple of teaspoons of a more potent dried pepper. If I’d had any on-hand I think I might have also served these with some pickled ginger but even without, this recipe was a definite hit.
